Reading Club
The Salem Center Reading Club provides a space for students to explore relevant and exciting work outside their main disciplines. The main objective is to spur a vibrant conversation about the reading’s content, learning not only from the text but from a respectful and open engagement with other participants.
WHAT YOU GET
A free copy of the readings and a space for open intellectual engagement.
THE EXPECTATIONS ARE SIMPLE
1. Attend all the scheduled sessions
2. Read the assigned materials ahead of each session
3. Actively engage in the conversation
A Salem Center Scholar, moderates the sessions. There will be no lectures, only a brief introduction, and some questions about the readings if anything. Thus, you must show up with some ideas, questions, agreements, disagreements, and critical points.
